3am again!

We've seen 3am two too many times this week. Hannah has woken up at 3am both yesterday morning and this morning. Yesterday morning we both went in there. She wanted to go to the potty so Renee took her. Then after that she couldn't fall back asleep and wanted Renee to lay down in her room. So after an hour Renee had to leave even though Hannah still hadn't fallen back asleep yet. Needless to say we were all tired yesterday.

This morning Jon went in when she started screaming at 3am. He took her to the bathroom as this is what she said, "I have to go potty one more time!" What we've noticed is that she's already going in her diaper which either makes her upset so she cries or she just doesn't know how to tell us that she already went. Either way she's really doing better about potty training but we just can't figure out if she gets upset or doesn't like that she went in her diaper. Luckily since Jon went in only this morning she went right back to sleep, and so did we.

Potty training certainly is challenging every day. There's funny and frustrating sides to it. But no matter what we are so proud of her as she's growing up to be such a wonderful little girl!

Ups and Downs

The ups of the day: we had fun watching baby Ava Mantegna for a few hours. We saw a glimpse of what it will be like with two girls:

  • Hannah was an AMAZING help! She wanted to do so much.
  • She helped Ava with her pacifier and playing toys to help her not cry.
  • She played her music on the activity mat and laid next to her.
  • She tried to help feed her and change her diaper.
  • She helped Mommy and Daddy every time we asked.
  • When Hannah woke up from her nap she asked where baby Ava was. So cute!

The down(er) of the weekend was Renee's giant waste of 2 hours when she took Hannah to the doctor late Friday afternoon. Hannah's eyelid was very pink and swollen since she woke up on Friday morning. After a couple of doses of Benadryl and a good nap it seemed worse. After waiting for almost 2 hours - the end results was A MOSQUITO BITE! Apparently she must've gotten bit on the eyelid during the night and it swelled overnight. Today it got a little better but you might be able to see it in the picture below. My only thought is there is no way to protect this girl as even if you put bug spray on her you can't spray her eyes! So you can't win for trying. But like my Mom says, Better Safe then Sorry! At least it wasn't anything worse, right!

5 years! - July 23rd!

On July 23, 2003 we closed on our townhouse! We've been here for 5 years already! Wow, time flies! We celebrated by ordering a pizza as we did 5 years ago. After that night we started to talk about all the changes that we've done in the house within the five years: painted every room (re-painted 1 room), added blinds, curtains, fans, lighting, shelving, outdoor patio, added storage under stairwell, and still we have plans for more improvements!

After realizing that we wanted another change we talked about re-arranging our downstairs furniture. We decided to switch where the dining room table is to where the TV area was. So now as you enter you see our dining room table and china hutch, then go around it to the sofa and TV area. It's definitely different and worth the effort. We'll take some pictures as it'll take some time to get use to. The only compromise we had to make was to eliminate the large chair. We don't have a home for it so now it resides in our garage. But we are completely happy as both of us really love change! Good news too as we only have 4 months left until our next new change arrives!

Cousin's Wedding Weekend

Last weekend we went to Daytona Beach to see Renee's cousin, Victoria, get married on the beach in Ormond! The wedding was beautiful and we had such a fun weekend!

Hannah at a park in Ormond Beach before the wedding.

It was 90 degrees out so Hannah had it made in the shade during the wedding. Jon held an umbrella to shield us all from the heat! Hannah loved it and the water (in the bottle) the best. She still hated to touch the sand even though she was hot.

Victoria and James Link's Wedding

Victoria is Uncle Johnny's 2nd daughter and James is our new cousin!

Happy and Hot

The extended cousins (Ian, Shay (Rachel and Kerry's boys), James (Uncle Joe's son), Rachel (Uncle Johnny's daughter), Ann, Renee, Jon, Hannah and Jennie)

For Mom and Dad...who couldn't make it to the wedding as they are in Austria. All of your girls love you and missed you this weekend.

Uncle Joe (Renee's Mom's Uncle), Uncle Wes (Renee's Mom's Brother), Aunt Linda (Renee's Great Aunt- married to Uncle Joe), and Aunt Janice (Renee's Mom's sister in law). These MI and TN natives loved the beach wedding but smiled during the heat.

Hannah actually went down the slide all by herself for the first time ever! She loved it and went down several times. Aunt Jennie got it on video so we may add that to the blog sometime.

Hannah saw the turkeys outside of Grandma and Granddad's house!

One of the reasons Hannah loves Grandma and Granddad's house!

Fun Weekend!

We had a fun weekend! Gabby came over Saturday night and played with Hannah in the ball pit! They loved it! Then Saturday night we went to The Ritz-Carlton, Palm Beach for dinner and swimming. It was so relaxing and as you can tell Hannah is really enjoying swimming with her new floaties, thanks to Marlo!

Happy July 4th!

Here are just a few pictures from today's fun, swimming at the Thorne's in Ormond Beach! This is the first time that all the "cousins" have been together. More pictures may come... In the meantime, Happy July 4th to all of you!
